Introduction to CAU

中国农业大学是国家“双一流”建设的教育部直属重点高校，是中国现代农业高等教育的起源地，其历史起自于1905年成立的京师大学堂农科大学。

China Agricultural University (CAU) is a key university directly under the Ministry of Education listed in the national "Double First-class" initiative. Being the origin of China's modern agricultural higher education, CAU’s history date back to the Imperial University of Peking Agricultural University founded in 1905.

历经百年的世纪风雨，中国农业大学已经发展成为一所农业学科世界领先大学，近年来在QS、US News和上海软科世界大学农业学科排名中，中国农业大学始终位列世界前10名，生物学、农业工程、食品科学与工程、作物学、农业资源与环境、植物保护、畜牧学、兽医学、草学九个学科被评为国家一流学科。中国农业大学师资力量雄厚，拥有教授和副教授1700多人，拥有23个博士和33个硕士学位授权一级学科，76个本科专业,目前在校研究生12000名，本科生13000名。

Going through more than a century of vicissitudes, CAU has developed into a world leading university in agricultural disciplines. In recent years, CAU has ranked among the top 10 in the world agricultural discipline ranking conducted by QS, US News and Shanghai Ranking’s Academic Ranking of World Universities, and its nine disciplines, including biology, agricultural engineering, food science and engineering, crop science, agricultural resources and environment, plant protection, zootechnics, veterinary medicine and grass science, have been rated as national first-class disciplines. CAU has a strong faculty, which consists of more than 1700 professors and associate professors, 23 doctoral and 33 master’s degree first-level disciplines and 76 undergraduate majors. At present, it has an enrollment of 12,000 postgraduate students and 13,000 undergraduate students.

中国农业大学近年来显著加快教育对外开放步伐，与亚、非、拉、欧、美各洲52个国家和地区的242所大学、研究机构和国际组织建立了友好合作关系。在加快世界一流大学建设中，学校与美国康奈尔大学、荷兰瓦赫宁根大学、美国加州大学戴维斯分校和巴西圣保罗大学成立了“世界顶尖涉农大学联盟（A5联盟）”。学校紧扣“一带一路”和“中非合作”倡议，组织国内40所、国外35所农林院校联合成立了“一带一路”农业教育科技创新联盟，依托联盟建设了11个“一带一路”农业合作中心。学校与联合国粮农组织、世界粮食计划署、联合国开发计划署、联合国南南合作办公室、世界银行、非洲绿色革命联盟等重要组织长期保持合作关系，共同开展政策对话、智库研究和国际发展项目等合作。

CAU has significantly accelerated the opening up of education to the outside world over recent years and has established friendly cooperative relations with 242 universities, research institutions and international organizations in 52 countries and regions in Asia, Africa, Latin America, Europe and America. In order to promote the development of world-class universities, CAU has established the “World’s Top Agricultural University Alliance (A5 Alliance)” in collaboration with Cornell University in the United States, Wageningen University in the Netherlands, University of California, Davis in the United States and University of São Paulo in Brazil. In close alignment with the “Belt and Road” Initiative and the “China-Africa Cooperation” initiative, CAU organized 40 domestic and 35 foreign agricultural and forestry universities to jointly form the “Belt and Road” Agricultural Education Science and Technology Innovation Alliance, and set up 11 “Belt and Road” agricultural cooperation centers relying on the alliance. Furthermore, the university has maintained long-term cooperative relations with Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), World Food Programme, United Nations Development Programme, United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation, World Bank, African Green Revolution Alliance and other important organizations to jointly carry out policy dialogue, think-tank research, international development projects and other cooperation.

一、项目介绍

I. Introduction to the Program

中国农业大学拥有丰富的课程教学资源和先进的科研设备条件，希望到中国农业大学进修课程或从事访问研究工作的国际学生，可向国际学生办公室提出申请。

CAU has rich teaching resources and advanced scientific research facilities. International students who want to seek for further study or visiting research in CAU can submit an application to the International Office.

关于进修课程或访问研究的内容，建议在制定本人学习计划之前，先向中国农业大学的相关院系或导师进行详细的咨询，进修课程成绩合格者，由学校相关部门提供课程学习成绩单，不授予学位。

As for the contents of the courses or visiting research, it is advisable to consult the relevant departments or tutors of CAU for details before making your study plan. The relevant departments of CAU will issue a course transcript to those who pass the course examination, and no academic degree will be awarded.

III. Qualification of Applicants

1．持有有效普通护照的外国国籍公民，且根据中华人民共和国国籍法规定不具有中国国籍的公民。

Non-Chinese citizens who do not have Chinese nationality under the Nationality Law of the People's Republic of China and hold a valid ordinary passport;

2．身心健康，符合在中国申请签证或居留许可的体检要求，以及在CAU学习的专业所需的体检要求，以确保在中国的正常学习和生活；

Physically and mentally healthy, meet the physical examination requirements for Chinese Visa or Residence Permit applicants in China and the physical examination requirements of the major to study in CAU to ensure normal study and life in China;

3．遵守纪律，无违反治安管理处罚或犯罪记录；友好对待中国，言行举止得当；遵守中国法律和学校规章制度，尊重中国风俗习惯。

Have no violation of disciplines, no records of public security punishment or of criminal conduct; be friendly to China and behave well; comply with Chinese laws and university regulations, and respect Chinese customs and manners;

4．满足所申请大学在学术能力及其他相关标准方面的入学要求。

Meet the admission requirements of the applied universities in terms of academic ability and other relevant criteria.

四、申请类别

IV. Categories

1．普通进修生：本科生和硕士研究生均可申请

General advanced students: undergraduates and master students can apply.

2．高级进修生：博士生研究生

Senior advanced students: Doctoral students.

五、费用类别

V. Fees Categories

1．自费 Self-funded;

2．院级及校级协议项目提供（附有效协议）

Funded by college or CAU-level agreement program (A valid agreement shall be attached).

3．其他项目资助（如：中国政府奖学金等）

Funded by other programs (e.g.,Chinese Scholarships Council).

六、申请材料

VI. Application Materials

1．护照首页 (附有照片页) First page of passport with photo;

2．最高学历学位证书或在读证明

Certificate of highest academic degree or certificate of schooling.

3．语言水平证明：HSK4级证书（中文授课）或英语水平证明（雅思、托福或英文授课证明）

Language proficiency certificate: HSK4 certificate ( for teaching in Chinese) or English proficiency certificate (IELTS, TOEFL, or others for teaching in English).

4．申请攻读高级进修生者，需提供两名副教授以上学者的推荐信（无固定格式，推荐信须请推荐人签名并明确标注推荐人职务和职称）

Applicants for senior advanced studies are required to provide Letter of Reference from two associate professors or above (no fixed format is required and Letter of Reference must be signed by the referrer and indicate the position and title of the referrer)

备注：各种证明、证书须是中文或英文原件或公证件，否则请提供中文或英文翻译的公证件。

If tuition is offered by college or CAU-level agreement program or other program, please attach relevant documents.

Note: All certificates must be original or notarized in Chinese or English. Otherwise, please provide notarized documents with Chinese or English translation.

七、 申请方式

VII. Application Method

申请者须首先登录中国农业大学国际学生报名网站 ( http://apply.cau.edu.cn )填写信息，选择相应申请类别（普通进修生或高级进修生），上传材料后提交。

Applicants need to first log on to the international student application website of China Agricultural University（ http://apply.cau.edu.cn ）, provide the required information, select your application category (general advanced student or senior advanced student) and upload the materials for submission.

申请春季学期入学时间：10月15日-12月30日

Application for spring semester admission: Oct., 15 - Dec., 30

申请秋季学期入学时间：3月15日-5月30日

Application for autumn semester admission:March 15 - May 30.

九、审核与录取

IX. Review and Admission

由中国农业大学国际学生办公室和相关专业教授审查申请材料，合格者即可录取。

The application materials will be reviewed by the International Office, CAU and relevant professors, and qualified applicants will be admitted.

十、 查询及录取通知

X. Inquiry and Admission Notice

录取结果可于每年6月下旬在中国农业大学国际合作与交流处网站查询。每年1月初和7月初，分别向被录取者发放中国农业大学《录取通知书》及《外国来华留学人员签证申请表》（JW202表）。

Admission results can be queried on the website of the International Office, CAU in late June every year. At the beginning of January and July each year, the China Agricultural University Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Foreign Students in China (JW202) will be issued to the applicants respectively.

十一、签证申请及入学报到

XI. Application for Visa and Enrollment Registration

被录取者应持普通护照、《录取通知书》、《外国留学人员来华签证申请表》（JW202表）、《外国人体格检查表》、《血液化验报告》前往中国驻外使（领）馆办理入境学习（X）签证，并持以上材料，按通知书上规定的时间到中国农业大学国际学生办公室办理入学报到手续。

Matriculates shall go to Chinese embassy (consulate) at their location to apply for study (X) visa with their ordinary passport, Admission Notice, Visa Application Form for Foreign Students in China (Form JW202), Physical Examination Form for Foreign Nationals and Blood Test Report, before presenting the foregoing materials to the International Office, CAU for enrollment registration at the time specified in the Admission Notice.
